I've been intending to engrave into the lenses to see how they project when the surface is not perfect. Drawing on them has no discernible effect to me, so it will be interesting to see what happens with a stronger intervention.
Since I've been thinking about culture and the lenses we see the world through, I thought it would be interesting to play with traditional patterns, using them as a representation of compartmentalised identities. The lead stencils that we have in the glass studio are an interesting source of pattern for me, so I've been drawing them, and playing with scans of them.
I do like the parts where they show how they were made, with the measurements and scribe lines so that the maker could keep them symmetrical. Also, some of them are quite badly damaged from use and abuse, and the missing parts of the pattern are quite intriguing for me.
