So, remember these? This is largely for my reference, but here's a picture of them in the kiln before they were slumped (kiln 1, normal slump program). Above is engraving process.
I've started making more of them, this time instead of pre-firing layers, I stacked shards of clear between them, so that they have to slump as they fuse, making the bubble squeeze more mechanical. It was quite effective! :) also, I build walls around, because our kilns are side-fired, and I want the heat to come from the top, so that the sides of the glass don't seal before the air bubbles escape. All in all, I think my bubbles are going away. Horrah! (Kiln 7, my usual full fuse firing.)
